It's been 18 years since we won back to back LA LIGA Championships and it feels good. I've been saving a nice cigar for this one. Unfortunately, as many have noticed I haven't been writing as much on the blog. There are several reasons for this but its mainly because I have a book to finish writing which is taking up all my time and energy these days. Hala Madrid!!!

Still Recovering Robinho Assists Raul to take down Racing Santander 2-0

In a somewhat watchable performance, REAL MADRID moved a step closer to winning their first back to back LA LIGA Championship titles in at least a decade. The scoring opened when Robinho, fed up from lack of opportunities on the right wing switched to the left where he received the ball and dribbled past three defenders to find space for a beautiful lobbed cross which 'El Capitan' Raul then tipped slightly into the net past the Santander GK. From then on, the game was all MADRID, even though it wasn't until stoppage time until they scored again by a suprisingly accurate Higuain. Robinho is looking better on his road back to full recovery and relied more on his pragmatism than his fantasy to get the job done. Still, as everyone but the Spanish Media witnessed, even a recovering Robinho is essential to the success of this REAL MADRID team. Unfortunately, due to backdoor politics Calderon and Mijatovic might send the best player on Madrid's roster to play for Wenger this summer if the latest rumors are to be believed.

Sorry Hardworking Madrid with 9 point lead to top LA LIGA

Attacking attractive flowing soccer/futbol is taking a beating these days= Arsenal are out of the Champions League and are falling fast in the Premiership and even though REAL MADRID leading in Spain, they haven't played a decent game since ROBINHO got injured. My fellow NYC MADRIDISTAS are in denial that he has that much effect on the team but deep down they know that Robinho & Casillas are our only world class players on the team right now. Although he is now fit, he was lacking a bit of pace as the opposing GK beat him to a couple balls that should have ended up in the back of the net. Sneijder is looking good, scoring an amazing goal off of a botched play to scramble for the ball and score from a tough angle always builds the confidence. Gago is really stepping up as is Marcelo. The jury is still out on Robben, he looks a lot like the player who sucked for Chelsea all those years, although he works hard. That seems to be the key to MADRID these days, it doesn't matter if you suck most of the time, just run around aimlessly in full stride like our captain Raul likes to do. Still, in spite of our horrible play, REAL MADRID is now 9 points clear on top of the LA LIGA standings and is closing in on our 2nd Championship in a row. Next year I will be expecting a lot more from this team because it will be the first time in a long time that we have had the same coach for two years in a row. Hopefully Schuster can build on this years accomplishments and add the flair and sexy futbol MADRIDISTAS expect from our team. And hopefully those idiots Calderon and Mijatovic don't buy and sell the wrong players again in the offseason. Yeah, I'm still bitter from out champions league exit and to that MAN U fan who got to drunk and was talkin' sh*t to my NYC MADRIDISTA crew at the IRISH ROGUE last weekend, go F*ck yourself. One more thing about the game against Murcia which REAL MADRID played and won with only 10 men after that puto Torres got red carded. Huga Gatti from AS said it best "I knew Madrid would still win with 10 men, but I also knew that I would be bored to death watching them play."

Higuain finally scored and Madrid defeats Sevilla 3-1

I was at a writer's conference this past weekend so I missed the game but from what I gathered we played well enough, Heinze scored off a header, Raul scored an outstanding goal and Higuain finally scored after about a thousand chances. According to most accounts Robben was OK but not convincing, Sneijder, Gago & Marcelo had excellent showings as well. At least we're 7 points ahead of Barca and 6 points ahead of Villareal. Oh yeah, Robinho is still lagging in form because of injury so he only got some garbage time minutes.
